Privacy

Last updated September 11, 2026

Privacy matters to me. This site is intentionally designed to collect as little information as practical. This page explains what information may be processed when you visit, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Who operates this site

This website is the personal website of Miraç Akdağ. For privacy questions, contact contact@miracakdag.com.

Analytics

I use PostHog to understand how visitors find and use this website. On your first visit, basic anonymous metrics are collected in a cookieless mode before you choose — pages viewed, referrer, and broad device information without persistent cookies or a stored visitor identity.

If you choose Allow analytics, measurement upgrades to full analytics: PostHog may use persistent cookies and local storage, session replay, heatmaps, web vitals, approximate location derived from IP, and richer interaction events such as article scroll depth. Choosing Not now keeps basic cookieless measurement only.

This site does not intentionally send PostHog names, email addresses, form contents, phone numbers, or other sensitive personal information.

PostHog may assign a random session identifier for measurement. This site has no accounts or login, and that identifier is not linked to your name, email address, or other direct identity information.

Interaction events are limited to navigation and engagement signals — for example, which page or project was opened or which outbound link was clicked. No free-text input is collected.

There are no advertising trackers, no Meta Pixel, no Google advertising trackers, no behavioral advertising, and no selling of visitor data.

PostHog

Analytics is provided by PostHog. This project is configured to use PostHog's EU (Frankfurt) hosting environment.

IP addresses are anonymized in PostHog. Approximate location from IP is only enabled after you allow analytics.

Cookies and local storage

Essential preference storage: Used only to remember your analytics choice in local storage under the key ma_privacy_choice. This is site functionality, not analytics tracking.

Session continuity keys: While analytics is active, the site may store ma_session_id and ma_nav_id in session storage for the current tab only. These are technical session identifiers for measurement continuity, not persistent visitor profiles. They are cleared when the tab closes.

Cookieless analytics (default): Before or after you choose Not now, PostHog runs in cookieless mode without persistent analytics cookies.

Full analytics storage: Only created after you allow analytics. You can withdraw permission at any time through in the footer, which downgrades to cookieless mode and clears analytics storage where technically possible.

Legal basis

Before you choose, only basic cookieless measurement runs, as described above. Full analytics — including session replay and persistent storage — relies on your consent.

Essential preference storage is used to remember your privacy choice and operate the privacy preference system.

Data retention

Analytics events are retained for 12 months in PostHog (EU). Session replay clips are retained for 30 days.
