Software Engineer
Worked on an enterprise marketing technology platform handling SMS, email, push notification and web-push delivery. Took ownership of the SMS delivery domain after the previous domain owner departed, supporting production systems processing tens of millions of messages per day.
Growth trajectory
Entered Related Digital as an intern and deployed production code within the first weeks. Transitioned to a full-time Software Engineer role and gradually took ownership of the SMS delivery domain after the previous domain owner departed — a progression that demonstrated both technical competence and the trust of the engineering organization.
Scale
The enterprise marketing technology platform served major brands across SMS, email, push notification and web-push channels. The SMS delivery systems processed tens of millions of messages per day, with typical SMS throughput of approximately 30–50 million messages daily. This scale required careful attention to reliability, performance and operational efficiency.
Legacy modernization
Led a 3–4 month modernization effort on major legacy SMS components. Rebuilt services on modern .NET and migrated database-backed messaging workflows to RabbitMQ. This reduced the system's architectural dependence on database-backed queueing, improving scalability, maintainability and operational efficiency.
Integration complexity
Developed and maintained integrations with 15+ external SMS providers. Each provider had distinct APIs, protocols, delivery semantics and reliability characteristics. Managing this integration surface at production scale required careful abstraction, error handling and monitoring.
Production ownership
Owned production troubleshooting within the SMS domain and coordinated incident response across engineering, solution architecture and customer-facing teams. This responsibility extended beyond code into understanding business impact, customer communication and cross-team coordination during production issues.
Technical environment
Worked within a Domain-Driven Design (DDD) environment using:
What this demonstrates
- Production engineering at genuine enterprise scale
- Ownership of mission-critical delivery systems
- System modernization and migration under production constraints
- Multi-provider integration management at scale
- Cross-team incident response and coordination
- Growth from intern to domain owner based on demonstrated capability
